Cal Sturgeon

Cal Sturgeon (they/them), Consultant, currently serves as the Assistant Director, Prospect Development at the City of Hope. They joined the hospital after serving a decade at the Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation, where they modernized the prospect development shop through innovative research and scoring techniques, portfolio optimization, and data analytics. Sturgeon has also created better communication channels with front-line fundraising staff, leading to higher fundraising outcomes. Sturgeon has served on the Apra board since 2022 and held leadership roles in governance, technology, and conference planning. They serve on the Apra Board of Directors, an international professional association that serves, represents and advances members who work at the intersection of fundraising and data. This includes professionals working in prospect intelligence and identification, data science, relationship management, and campaign planning and feasibility. Through their work, they strive to create, maintain, and enhance DEI efforts with a lens toward inclusion and justice.
