Milagro "Misa" Lobato

Milagro “Misa” Lobato (she/her), Senior Consultant, is the Director of Prospect Development, Medical Development at Virginia Commonwealth University. She is also the former President of Apra, an international professional association that serves, represents, and advances members who work at the intersection of fundraising and data. Her work included working globally with professionals in prospect intelligence and identification, data science, relationship management, and campaign planning and feasibility. Misa has served on the Apra board since 2016 and held leadership roles in governance, conference planning, membership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. During her leadership of Apra, Misa helped found a diversity, equity, and inclusion committee, establish DEI goals in Apra’s strategic plan, launch a member identity data collection effort, draft and implement a DEI plan, and integrate DEI-focused practices throughout the organization. In her writing and speaking on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in non-profit organizations, Misa promotes a vision of philanthropy that actively participates in the creation of a more just and inclusive world. Previously, Misa was the Director of Prospect Management and Analytics at Rhode Island School of Design, and Assistant Vice President of Advancement Strategy and Annual Giving at the University of Colorado, where she worked in Advancement for over 13 years. She has a degree in Ethnic Studies and English Literature from the University of Colorado.
