Barrett Marshall, Esq.

Barrett Marshall, Esq. (they/them), Senior Consultant, is an experienced civil rights attorney, professor, and consultant specializing in systemically marginalized populations and trauma-informed practice. With 20 years of non-profit work, and over a decade of litigation experience, Barrett has consistently worked on behalf of those living at the intersections of marginalized identities and below the poverty line. They have created and supervised legal services programs addressing LGBTQ health and civil rights, family law, eviction prevention, and issues facing survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, all in the non-profit sphere.
Currently, Barrett serves as an EEO Specialist with the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at Pennsylvania State University. In this role they investigate allegations of workplace discrimination and provide compliance support to the University. After many years as an advocate this role is a natural complement to their non-profit and litigation experience.
Having served in both adjunct and clinical professor roles, Barrett’s academic expertise includes trial advocacy, trauma-informed legal practice, social justice, and workplace culture. Barrett teaches in multiple graduate programs at Pennsylvania State University—Leading a Diverse Organization in the Smeal College of Business, Health Law in the Master of Health Administration program, and Public Health Law at the law school.
